Interstellar News Update
Oldest news last, newest news first!

2566

Finally, the genocide is complete. The Raven bombers continued their attack on the final Jehvan world and have now eradicated all traces of life. Help from the Alliance of Prey Worlds was only a couple of years away, but the Jehvan were unable to hold out. Against bombers, freighters with Robber Barons and a 5000kt mineral packet incoming at Warp 12, there was little hope!

The Ravens win The Game!

2564

This year saw the demise of the fourth Jehvan world, as the Ravens continue their assault. There seems little anyone can do to stop the advance, as the Megrans attack Journalist worlds and the rest of the Alliance of Prey Worlds seem too far away... is The Game nearly over?

2561

The third Jehvan world, Eisenhower, fell to attacking Raven fleets this year, as they continue to move through their Prey's territory with little difficulty. The Alliance of Prey Worlds does not seem to be able to react quick enough to stop the onslaught... or will the Star Children move in on the Hurakan before the Ravens can finish their job?

2557

The war has died down a little, with no more planetary losses, although the Jehvans have been hard hit by their enemies the Ravens. With no starbases remaining, their continued existence must be put in question...

Elsewhere, the Hurakan and Ogi continue to build defences against the Star Children, whose fleet remains immobile in view from a nearby Keth world. None dare approach it as yet, since fighting Nubians is less than interesting for them...

2548

Two more worlds were cleared of life this year, as the Star Children continue their advance against the Hurakan and the Ravens begin their assault on the Jehvan. The Morphling have dropped out of the race for the moment... which of these remaining two races will be the first to destroy their Prey?

2543

The Star Children have moved in on the Hurakan now... last year saw an enormous fleet arrive at Bradley and completely eradicate all resistance! Their bombers set to work on the world below as, nearby, Morphling fleets continued their work on a Keth homeworld.

However, the Morphling received a rather nasty shock at the next Keth world, as they met Dreadnought resistance supplied by the Alliance of Prey Worlds. Their entire invasion fleet was reduced to dust. Where next for the Morphling?

2537

The Morphling have continued their attack on Blue Ball this year, wiping out the Keth presence there. Bringing their own bombers in at the last moment, they claim the kill and move into the lead in The Game!!

2535

The Alliance of Prey Worlds has been turning the defeat of the Megrans to their advantage for the last twenty years - their combined forces, along with some help from at least one Hunter, have reduced this power's holdings by 20%. With bombers and war fleets traversing virtually all of Megran space, there seemed little hope of a fight-back from the southern-based empire.

However, taking advantage of this concentration of forces, the Morphling warped into orbit of Blue Ball this year and, with the support of the Star Children's missile boats, wiped out the Keth Starbase there. Over 500 vessels met in a huge battle above the surface of the planet, from 5 different races, but even the combined strength of the Alliance stood little hope against such overwhelming odds.

With this sudden move by two of the Hunters, the Prey worlds will no doubt find themselves torn in a two-front war. Never a good thing at the best of times, these smaller empires may suddenly discover the limitations of their five-colony expanses. More news as it happens!

2515

With the loss of the Anla-Shok to the Alliance of Prey Worlds, repercussions are already being felt by the other Hunters. A Megran battle fleet closing with the Ogi-Chi territories is the first, as the Alliance is able to turn their attention to this aggression. In a huge battle above one of the News Team's homeworlds, more than one hundred warships met and exchanged blows. The result? The Megran attack fleet is no more, although they cost the Alliance dearly.

Further South, the Megran homeworlds themselves are also under attack as the Alliance throws everything it has against this Monster Hunter. Undoubtedly a shock for the Megran Empire, the question that remains is whether they will be able to react quick enough and with enough force to stop the Alliance's attempted coup...

Elsewhere in the Universe, the other Hunters are no doubt watching with interest, to see whether the giant of the player races will be able to gain ground. They will also be watching for a back-door opportunity to leap upon their Prey!

2501 (from our undercover agent on a Star Child homeworld)

The year 2500 has passed, and a race is almost gone. But not a Prey race... An alliance of the Tor-Ca, Ogi-Chi and Hukaran (at least) have decimated the Anla-Shok Hunter worlds. The last of their planets fell to Tor-ca bombers this year. With only a few ships remaining, they are without apparent hope... unless one of those ships holds Colonists.

The effective demise of the Anla-Shok leads the Hunters to wonder "Who's Next?" The alliance gives no indication of breaking up. Because of lack of trust among most Hunters, the alliance can attack one race at a time until there are no more hunters, and the Prey are safe.

Scorewise, the alliance is strong. They hold two of the top five positions, even with the five-world limits (the Megrans are a long way in first place, the Star Children a strong second and the Morphling in third). Their third member brings up the rear in tenth position (not counting the Stellar News).

2486

After a long break in the News, we return with an update of the Universal situation.

The Star Children seem to have backed off from the Hurakan homeworlds, apparently concerning themselves with more Universal happenings. They have decided to back the Anla-Shok in their struggle with the Ogi-Chi, and also to attack anyone who helps their Prey, the Hurakan.

The Anla-Shok themselves seem to have opened a real can of worms by attacking the Ogi-Chi. The Hurakan immediately leapt to the aid of their allies, supplying minerals and combat vessels which balanced the skirmishing. Hurakan war fleets are right now making their way into Ogi-Chi space and destroying any Anla-Shok they find there.

Elsewhere, the Keth and the Morphling have run into each other, with some large battles taking place near the Keth homeworlds. The Morphling seem to be better equipped than their counter-combattants, although Keth homeworlds have gone into war production to try to fend off the impending invasions.

The Raven/Jehvan war also continues, as the Ravens try to pick off Jehvan ships heading along freight routes or for rendezvous with other vessels. The Jehvan appear to have ceased their bombardment of Raven worlds for the moment, and the two races have gone very quiet. No doubt something is brewing there

The only quiet races at this time appear to be the Toloi and Tor-Ca, who are using the period of inter-racial conflict to concentrate on their production.

2450

Fifty years of The Game have now passed and life is hotting up for the hunted races! The Hurakan have managed to fend off the attacking Star Children very effectively over the past couple of years - new Starbases with bigger, more impressive weapons completely obliterated the Children's latest invasion attempts. The Hunters have not given up, however, as more fleets are on their way to the Hurakan worlds. The Star Children have even gone as far as publicly broadcasting that the Hurakan have 'awoken the giant' who will 'bring armageddon' upon their Prey! Big claims, but perhaps well-justified!

In another part of the galaxy, the Keth are not doing so well. faced with an onslaught of ships from the Morphling empire, they had their deterrent destroyers wiped out in a short battle. The Morphling fleet will not be turned from their objective of the Keth homeworld, but may not be as effective as they had hoped, now they are damaged. The Keth will no doubt be struggling to produce as many defensive vessels as possible!!

2447

The Hurakan/Star Child battles continue, with casualties on both sides mounting. The Hurakan have not lost any worlds yet, but their vessels continue to be destroyed by the Star Child fleets... outnumbered severely, the Hurakan seem able to do little to prevent the loss of one or more of their worlds at present.

As the war between the Star Children and the Hurakan continues, the Keth have also found themselves a target. Without warning, a Morphling war fleet warped in-system and destroyed everything they found there. Another Hunter finds their prey... but still we have no leader!

2437

Some embarrassing news this year... while orbiting an apparently uninhabited world, we sent down a news team to check out the surface, searching for signs of life. Of course, they went armed. Unfortunately, they encountered what they believed to be hostile indigenous life forms and took appropriate action...

We would like to apologise to the Jehvan for this misunderstanding.

2435

The Jehvan's extra world has now been eradicated, reducing them to the allowed five planets. Their stocks of Germanium were successfully removed at the same time.

2428

The main news this year is of the breach of rules by one of the Hunted races! The Jehvan have just inhabited their sixth world, having forgotten one of their Santa Marias and leaving it running for years. We, the Journalists, will ensure they are brought back down to five worlds immediately and will inflict punishment - the Jehvan will be forced to forego all current stocks of Germanium.

2426

This year saw the beginning of the Hunt in real terms... Star Child vessels warped into a Hurakan homeworld's orbit and beamed stormtroopers down to the surface. They had not counted on the ferocity of the Hurakan defenders, however, and were slaughtered in moments. With the discovery of this world, the Star Children will no doubt begin planning the destruction of their Prey... time for the other Hunters to move in and take out their targets!

2416

The first shots of the Hunt have been fired! A hunted race scout arrived at a previously unfamiliar planet in the same year as a Hunter vessel, armed and ready, warped in to the system. The battle was brief, but decisive. Hunters 1, Hunted 0. Of course, ships don't make much difference in the Hunt, but this could mark the beginning of a rush to do some damage by all the Hunters - before any particular one gets a head-start!

2413

This year's big news is the meeting of a Hunter and Hunted. A Tor-Ca scout has wandered to within a few light years of one of their Hunter's planets... could this be the beginning of a rush to destroy the Tor-Ca homeworlds?

2411

We have heard of many alliances and communications through the known universe, but so far only the Jehvan and Tor-Ca have made enough noise to be recognised universally. The other four Hunted races are still unknown to us.

2407

The Hunted races are making their way to new worlds, anxious to settle before they are spotted by too many Hunters. Their factories churn through the night to produce colony ships...

So far, we have heard that the Jehvan and the Tor-Ca have declared a state of non-co-operation, due to a mishap with a missile, and a great deal of strange clicking and hooting from an unknown race has been heard over the communication waves.

2400

Welcome to the Interstellar News system. From our homeworlds, we will be broadcasting to the galaxy, telling all, unmasking the bad guys, spotting the good guys, finding those super-stealth races, following the interstellar travellers, visiting the alternate dimensions and generally reporting all the news as it happens!

All twelve designer races have arrived in the galaxy and will surely be getting their bearings. The Hunters will be building their scouts and their ships of war, while the Hunted will be desperate to find habitable planets. Watch this space!
